🍂📖 We were honored to welcome Irish writer Lara Hartnett to La Maison de Beaumont this fall, where she worked on Hartnett’s Folly, a semi-fictional biography of her father, the renowned Irish poet Michael Hartnett (1941–1999).

One of Ireland’s most celebrated literary voices, Michael Hartnett was known for his deeply lyrical poetry exploring identity, love, belonging, and Irish cultural heritage. Writing in both English and Irish, he famously turned away from English-language poetry in 1975 to devote himself to the Irish language, making a powerful statement about cultural identity and artistic independence. His work remains an enduring part of Ireland’s literary legacy.

Through Hartnett’s Folly, Lara blends biography, fiction, and magical realism to explore the life of a father she never fully knew. Moving between memory and imagination, her work is a deeply personal reflection on family, absence, and the stories we inherit.

This wonderful group of artists brought together a truly multidisciplinary mix of talents — painters, musicians, visual artists, and creatives from different backgrounds, each contributing their own unique perspective and artistic voice.
